Platform
Kevin Reilly is running for Assembly to put people, not politics, at the center of decision-making. For too long, Madison gridlock and special interests have stood in the way of solutions that actually help families in Waukesha and across Wisconsin.
Kevin’s platform is built on fairness, opportunity, and community. From fixing our broken tax system to strengthening schools, expanding healthcare, and ensuring safe, affordable housing,
Kevin believes government should work for everyone!
Fair Taxes & Shared Revenue
Wisconsin’s tax system is broken. Too much of our tax money gets siphoned off at the state level while local schools, cities, and counties are left scrambling. Homeowners—especially seniors—carry the biggest burden.
Kevin believes in a fair, progressive tax system where everyone pays their share and local dollars stay in local communities. That means real revenue reform, not endless property tax hikes.
Kevin’s Plan:
Return tax dollars back to municipalities, counties, and schools.
Reduce reliance on property taxes with a balanced tax system.
Fix shared revenue so communities don’t have to pass costly referendums.
Smart on Safety: Corrections, Marijuana & Violence Prevention
Wisconsin wastes millions on mass incarceration while ignoring proven strategies that make communities safer. Nonviolent marijuana arrests clog our courts and jails, while private prisons profit without providing rehabilitation.
Kevin believes we should be smart on safety—not just tough on crime. That means focusing on prevention, rehabilitation, and legalization that brings revenue to communities instead of locking people up.
Kevin’s Plan:
Legalize and regulate marijuana, using revenue for treatment and education.
Invest in rehabilitation and workforce reentry programs.
Fund community-based violence prevention and proactive public safety strategies.
Affordable Healthcare & Mental Health
Healthcare should be affordable and accessible for every family. Kevin supports expanding BadgerCare, lowering costs, and ensuring every child has access to healthcare.
Mental health care is just as important. Kevin wants to embed social workers alongside police, expand evidence-based mental health infrastructure, and make sure people get help before a crisis hits.
Kevin’s Plan
Expand BadgerCare for working families.
Build proactive, evidence-based mental health infrastructure.
Guarantee universal healthcare for all children.
Housing & Strong Communities
Families across Waukesha are being priced out of housing. Rent is rising, affordable housing is scarce, and special interests like the realtor lobby block real solutions.
Kevin will fight for housing as a basic need, ensuring every family can live with dignity and stability. Safe, affordable homes are the foundation of strong communities.
Kevin’s Plan:
Expand affordable housing development.
Push back against special interests that drive up costs.
Support smart, fair development that strengthens neighborhoods.
Labor & Small Business
Wisconsin’s economy only thrives when workers and small businesses thrive. Right now, small businesses face high costs for labor, rent, childcare, and healthcare, while workers struggle for fair wages and rights.
Kevin supports both. By easing the costs of childcare and healthcare, we can help small businesses grow while protecting workers’ right to unionize and earn a living wage.
Kevin’s Plan:
Support hospitality and service workers’ right to unionize.
Ensure fair wages, benefits, and safe working conditions.
Help small businesses by addressing rent and benefit costs through public support.
Strong School, Kids & Universities
Waukesha has lost too many opportunities for kids and families—from the YMCA to UW–Waukesha. Public schools are underfunded, childcare is unaffordable, and higher education has been cut to the bone. Our kids deserve better.
Kevin will fight to restore schools, expand childcare, and reinvest in universities so every child—from preschool through college—has the chance to thrive.
Kevin’s Plan:
Fully fund public schools and after-school programs.
Support universal childcare so parents can work and kids can grow.
Reinvest in UW campuses to retain top talent and drive local innovation.
Protecting Our Environment
Wisconsin’s natural beauty is one of our greatest treasures, but climate change and pollution threaten it. Kevin believes protecting our air, water, and land is essential for future generations.
He will rebuild the Wisconsin Idea, empowering universities to lead in research and sustainability while investing in clean energy jobs and protecting natural resources.
Kevin’s Plan:
Invest in clean energy infrastructure and jobs.
Rebuild the Wisconsin Idea to link universities with communities.
Protect clean air, water, and land for future generations.
